Which File Format to Choose

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is the best choice if using a cutting machine like the Cricut or Glowforge. SVG is a file format that creates images using simple shapes like circles, squares and lines. Unlike other file formats like JPEGs, SVGs can be scaled up without generating blurry lines - they always look sharp and clear.

PDF (Portable Document Format) is ideal for printing as it preserves the quality and layout of the design. They are easy to share as the format is widely accepted. This is a scalable vector format so can be scaled without loss of quality.

DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) files are intended for use with computer aided design (CAD) software and laser cutting software such as LightBurn. Much like SVG and PDF this is a vector based format, so can be scaled without loss of quality.

PNG (Portable Network Graphics) files are not scalable so if you increase the size you will lose quality. These files come in a large size so will be ok for most applications, but if you need very large sizes you should start with one of the other formats. Use the "with transparent background" if you need it to blend seamlessly into the background.
